Located on the northern side of the Sai Kung West Country Park, Hoi Ha Wan is a sheltered bay with good water quality and high biodiversity. It is home to 64 hard coral species, accounting for 70% of the total hard coral species in Hong Kong. Over 120 reef fish species are supported by the vibrant coral communities and 6 out of 8 true mangrove species can be found near the estuary.

In 1996, Hoi Ha Wan was designated as one of Hong Kong's first batch of marine parks for protecting the delicate hard coral communities and the high marine biodiversity in the area. Marine park is established to promote conservation, education, scientific research and recreation. Hoi Ha Visitor Centre (HHVC) was opened in mid-2021 with an aim to enhancing visitor experience in nature appreciation and outdoor recreation. It serves as a hub for introducing the functions and management of marine parks, raising public awareness on marine conservation and disseminating information of attractions in and near Hoi Ha. Centre-based activities are regularly organized. Public are welcome to visit the centre without any pre-registration. For details about the Hoi Ha Visitor Centre, please visit https://bit.ly/3Cgf7wJ
